Well, here after about 8 weeks of messing around I was finally able to get a resident fishing permit here in Iowa. What a freaking deal!. I had to provide the DNR with 6 or more pieces of evidence to prove that I was in fact a resident. Your drivers license is not sufficient proof any longer. I needed 2 utility bills, a federal or state tax document, my drivers license, and some other crap sent with an application to DNR in Des Moines. Where the law enforcement guys were to get it done in 3 days max.. Well like 21 days later I had to call them and ask what was up.. A week or so later I got word all was approved and I was ok to go get my permit. I stopped at the bait shack here today at lunch, to get er done.. They scan my drivers license and it rejected my attempt again. I had to call Des Moines yet again, like they say 3rd attempt is what it took.. Just a click of how freaking screwed up the government is getting.

These guys here don't know of the bait so much yet, but they are about to see it in action. I was down to the boat ramp at Sny Magill access at noon today. The water is maybe 2 feet above where it had been for the winter so would be good boating over the rock wing damns now. I stuck my toe in and was surprised at how not cold it felt. So here this afternoon I am draining the gear lube from the lower unit, get that serviced and have that done. I did find in one of the dry hole a box of old granola bars.. Do granola bars go bad??

You might want to try one before you get on the water Wink
