I got lucky...
My plan was to fish top water as long as it produced, then move to and flip the brush. That is where we found them the week before when pre fishing.
I caught my first fish, 19.5 on a polly wog on the S shore near the channel swing. I had a few more good fish crack it but did not hook em..
The next 4 fish were on my jig n craw. The 15.5" came from a brush pile late in the day. As it allways does, the wind added to the effort when trying to jig the brush.. Broke of several jigs and fish during the day. As did my partner.. _________________ The Best things in life are: Fast Boats, Sharp Hooks a good Knot and a Big Hearted Woman! |

Campbell ran another fine event, thanks for putting it on for us Will.. Thanks to all the rest for your contribution's to the burger fry Friday evening.. Worked out pretty well I think.
Here are a few numbers from Saturday's event.
We had 22 anglers, who carded 90 bass. Of the 90 we had 13 fish that were 18" or larger. Of the 90 carded 51 were Missouri's. which = 57% Mo's.. _________________ The Best things in life are: Fast Boats, Sharp Hooks a good Knot and a Big Hearted Woman! |

Hey, Lil Jake - you better get busy - sounds like there will be a market for replacement jigs _________________ Fishing is easy - all you have to do is the right thing, in the right way, at the right time, in the right place. |

As previously stated, thanks again for running a great event Cambell!
Me and Kyle were last boat to launch saturday so we stuck around the brush and weeds just up the shore from the ramp. Only found one frog fish there, a small one, so we idled to my favorite area on the lake, a deep flat with scattered stumps, and kyle picked up his best fish on a Havoc devil's spear. Fished there for a while with no more bites, and moved over to the rockpile off the point on the north side of the lake. No bites there. We headed down to the rockpile on the western branch of the lake, and after about 15 minutes I stuck my 20.75. After a while we headed down to the tubes and missed a good bite on a frog. After the first few hours we knew it was going to be a pretty slow day so we kind of just hopped around between offshore spots and spent a lot of time BSing. We found a few missouri's to be wayyyy back in coves in less than a foot of water on frogs. Had to just ease it along painfully slow, and they would crush it. That's how I got my 18.5 and kyle his 17.5. Later in the day we filled out cards in the heart of visible brush with small fish, and I had 2 very good fish hang up my beaver in piles that I couldn't get out. I saw one, a pound or so bigger than my big one, then he turned around and dove right into the thick stuff. Guess that's part of fishing like that though. I was very suprised my card held up for 2nd. Congrats to Mr Collins. |
